The Housing & Development Board (HDB) recently released the Environmental Baseline Study of Dover Forest. Take a look at the report found on this website under the heading “Planning with the Environment in mind”:

The report states Dover forest has been zoned as “Residential”. The area is 33 hectares and comprises of secondary forest on abandoned land (former kampungs and plantations). A total of 120 plant species and 27 large trees of significance were found in the forest. For birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, snails, butterflies and odonates, 158 species were recorded, of which 18 are considered locally threatened or near-threatened.
The area contributes to Singapore\’s forest connectivity for wildlife. The forest alleviates the urban heat island effect and cools surrounding residential spaces. Dover forest\’s greenery and wildlife have aesthetic and recreational value for residents.
